Greetings this fine Thursday morning from
The Dirty Half Dozen’s Mom
who’s had a particularly bad case of vacation let down since we got back from Washington. Because being around family again was so good and so hard to leave. And while I fully expected it, I was surprised by just how hard it hit me and how long it’s taken to get back that feeling of contentment for the life we have here at the tops of the mountains.
And as the days have stretched to weeks, I’ve done the only thing I know how to do—load up TDHD in the truck for pop and sucker runs … and trips to Walmart … and stops at Warrens for quarter cones … and extra loops around the block to finish car dancing to their favorite songs.
And slowly these six little faces have helped me get my groove back … helped me love seeing mountains in my rear-view mirrors again … helped me find the joy in the little moments that remind me that Utah is exactly where I’m supposed to be.
And while I still miss my ocean and waterfront and evergreen forests, I’ve realized since we’ve been back how much I love the dirt patch under
MY DECK
where my super-shy DYLAN sang his first song for me on camera yesterday and smiled all the way through …
… and where CAMERON designed, built and staged his first rock concert featuring his new single, I Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll Like The Rockers Do.
And I love
THE CORNER CAR WASH
where we dance during rain storms and stop to take pictures like we did last week when KADEN had a mad case of the sillies.
And I love
OUR NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS
where we meet up with friends for playgroup every Thursday … and spend hours riding bikes around the track … and race back and forth between the toys and basketball court.
And I love
MY FRONT PORCH
with it’s perfect afternoon light where I captured SEANRY’s rambunctious smile as a lightening storm rolled over head …
… and the smattering of freckles and beautiful eyes of SAVANNAH that remind me so much of her daddy.
No more wishing to be somewhere else … right here is perfect.
Now go enjoy your weekend!
