Family Pics

It only took eleven years, but finally … finally … we have a picture that I’m willing to frame. 

When our friend posted a late-night call out on Facebook Friday night asking for last-minute models for pictures on Temple Square, I couldn’t answer back fast enough. He was willing to do the shoot for free as long as we didn’t mind being his guinea pigs as he tested out new equipment.

Deal.

So we scrambled Saturday morning to find jeans without major grass stains-rips-dirt-kid-schmere and opted to just buy new white shirts for everyone. All of the kids where ready for the next size up anyway and it saved an hour of ironing.

And the world’s most patient photographer trekked around Temple Square with us, dodging the roughly one hundred wedding parties on the grounds and the hundred other photographers all jockeying for the same iconic shots.

But our guy?  Our guy rocked. He skipped the crowds all together and managed to get shots like these in average, un-exciting spots along the walkways and grass.  And he absolutely nailed the kids’ personalities.

Holy cow … nailed it.

And thanks to him, Ben and I actually have a picture together that doesn’t pre-date the Obama administration.

Our favorite spot ended up being at the little park just east of Temple Square.  And while I waved Ashy’s Mario Brothers hoodie and jumped around like an idiot behind our guy, the kids laughed and giggled …

… and sat mostly still …

… and were surprisingly good sports for ninety minutes, even when Dad decided to sneak in behind them.

So there you go—proof that The Dirty Half Dozen like to mix it up sometimes and rock a very different look than there norm:
