After weeks of searing temperatures, Mother Nature finally threw us a bone today with overcast skies, lower temps and the promise of thunder storms.
We waited all day for the storms to roll in, but there was nothing. Thankfully a stiff wind and a few storm clouds finally rolled in after dinner. When a light sprinkle began dusting the backyard just after 8:00 pm, I told TDHD that this might be the only summer rain we’d get. And just like that, five little bodies charged for the truck and squealed at the chance to log the first rain dance hours of 2012.
As we rounded the corner by Chevron, I heard something roll and crash around on the roof of the truck.
What on earth?
I’m guessing the kids might have been playing around before Mom made it out the truck. Thank guys.
And while we waited for the rain to get going and serve up some awesome puddles, TDHD goofed off in the wind …
… and chased each other around …
… and raced from one side of the parking lot …
… to the other …
… and back again.
After several minutes it was pretty clear that no one was going to be puddle jumping or getting soaked from the light, but steady sprinkles.
No biggie--the kids were totally fine with faking it.
And so one by one, they found the corner of the car wash with the drain spout …
… and parked under an icy-cold drip …
… and laughed their way to the rain storm version of a fake spray tan.
See, Mom? It’s been ‘raining.’
Yup, guys. Very convincing.
With all this rain, you must be drenched.
Summer hot spot?
Today ours was playing tag at a car wash and faking a great rain storm.
